Editorial Standards
How we decide what to publish, how we source it, and who's allowed to touch a story once it's live.
Sourcing
News claims are sourced to primary material wherever it exists: SEC and regulatory filings, exchange status pages, company press releases, on-chain data, court documents. We name our sources by default; anonymous sourcing is used only for information we can independently verify and only when a named source would face real professional risk. We do not rewrite press releases as news — every piece adds our own reporting, context, or testing.
Reviews and rankings
Every exchange we rank has had a real account opened, funded, and withdrawn from by our team. Every wallet we rank has held our own bitcoin for at least a month. Scores are set by the author using a published rubric (fees, security posture, support responsiveness, ease of use) before any commercial relationship is discussed with the reviewed company. No company sees or influences a score, ranking position, or verdict before publication.
Editorial independence from revenue
Affiliate commissions and sponsored placements are handled entirely by a separate business function with no authority over editorial content, scores, or story selection. A company that pays us more does not get better coverage, and a company that pays us nothing does not get worse coverage. See our affiliate disclosure for the commercial side of this wall.
Bylines and accountability
Every article carries the name of the person who reported or wrote it, and every author page discloses their beat and background. Editors may edit copy for clarity and length but may not change a factual claim, a score, or a ranking without the byline author's sign-off — disputes go to the Editor-in-Chief.
AI and automation
We use software to pull public data (ETF flows, on-chain metrics, exchange fee tables) into charts and tables, and a human always checks the output before it publishes. Analysis, opinion, and review verdicts are written by the named human author. We do not publish AI-generated articles under a byline that implies a human wrote every word unsupervised.
